BQE (from the CD Pop-Culture Blues recorded by the Michael Treni Big Band) is a lively shuffle-time blues with a rhythm and blues quality. Inspired by the bumps in the road of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway in New York City, the ensemble writing is in the style of music performed by the Basie Band. The form is a 16-bar blues, the typical 12 bars configuration plus a 4 measure extension.
